Protection of intellectual property as a factor
of innovative development

The article deals with the problem of intellectual property protection in Russia and anal-
yses its impact on the innovative development of the country. We define the notion "intel-
lectual property" and highlight the need to improve literacy in the engineering field of
intellectual property and its protection in order to avoid possible negative economic con-
sequences for individual businesses, as well as for the country as a whole. We provide
recommendations for authors in the field of intellectual property on the legal protection
of their works.
