Detonation spraying applicability in electrical insulation of the piezoelectric transducers as part of the tuning-fork level detectors

The paper considers a possibility to introduce detonation spraying in providing the piezoelectric transducer electrical insulation from metal elements of the device elements. It presents results of laboratory experiments aimed at applying detonation spraying based on the aluminum oxide (Al2O3) to the surface of a stainless steel workpiece. Results are demonstrated of measuring the coating insulation resistance, as well as of the experiments aimed at increasing the detonation spray coating insulation properties using molecular reinforcement with the synthetic oils. A sequence of technological operations was developed in the course of those experiments making it possible to raise insulation resistance of the detonation spraying by 3-4 orders of magnitude. Comparison of the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the piezoelectric element - resonator assemblies with and without an aluminum oxide coating showed a slight weakening of the resonance amplitude when operating in the typical liquid media with densities between 700 and 1300 kg/m3.
