The results of an experimental study of pool boiling of pure and contaminated hydrofluoroether HFE-7100 on a cylindrical surface of 3 mm in diameter are presented. The experiments were carried out at atmospheric pressure over a heat flux density range of 1 to 58 kW/m². The dependencies of the heat transfer coefficient on the heat flux were established for both fluids under conditions of both increasing and decreasing thermal loads. It is shown that fluid contamination leads to a degradation in heat transfer performance. The experimental data were compared with well-known correlations relating the heat transfer coefficient to the heat flux, with the McNelly model providing the best agreement with the experiment. Furthermore, the empirical constants of the predictive models were optimized for the pure HFE-7100 data. Based on the findings, the necessity of experimentally determining the altered thermophysical properties of the contaminated HFE-7100 is justified to ensure the accurate calculation and design of two-phase cooling systems.
