The paper presents results of studying the shipping packages (SP) stress-strain state and strength during simulation testing against the falling aircraft engine impact. Part 1 of the paper identifies methodology in simulating the impact and defines the striker parameters impacting the SP equivalent to the aircraft engine impact. The paper establishes patterns of alterations in the impact pulse, strain rates and stress-strain state with a change in the SP model scale. It shows that the computed assessment of the impact consequences is consistent with results of testing the SP models manufactured at the 1:2.5 and 1:10 scales. The SP body maximum deformations appearing during an impact do not exceed the ultimate destructive deformations of the body material, i.e., the 09N2MFBA-A steel, which ensures preservation of its integrity during an impact in the low climatic temperatures.
