One of the advantages of the electromechanical transmission application in vehicle transmissions is the possibility of kinetic energy recovery. But there is still no capability evaluation of the high-speed track-laying vehicles to recover kinetic energy in order to transform it for the subsequent movement. The subject under consideration is the negative work of the external and internal forces to overcome which the engine brake power is consumed while the track - laying vehicle is moving. The paper presents the calculations for the recovered energy under particular conditions and under combined road and soil conditions as well. The research resulted in the conclusion of the inexpediency to apply similar systems for the track - laying vehicles.
