The article deals with the problem of increasing the efficiency of the industrial control systems (ICS) business processes. Automating business processes are considered from the point of view of complex information technology systems, the analysis of the state of current developments in the field of automated business process management, stand out the most promising approaches to date in the research and implementation of solutions to problems functioning of the automated systems for managing business processes. Practical solution to the problems of integration tools and systems within a complex information technology systems through a single information field in its broadest sense is one of the main directions of development of the I&C business, essentially determines its efficiency and effectiveness. Intellectualization of tools and systems will be one of the main directions of development of complex information technology systems, not only in the short but also long term.
