One of the main ways to improve the reliability of rocket and space technology products is to reduce the number of human errors during the preparation of these products. This can be achieved, among other things, through the use of virtual and augmented reality tools in the ergonomic analysis of temporary workplaces and the creation of training and simulation complexes. Various methods for texturing the surfaces of 3D models were proposed, allowing the angle of deviation of the surface from the position perpendicular to the line of sight to be visually determined in virtual reality, thereby highlighting easily and difficultly accessible areas of the surface according to this criterion, which is difficult to determine using other methods. A comparative analysis of the quality of highlighting easily maintainable surface areas using the proposed texturing methods was conducted, as well as their experimental testing in the KOMPAS-3D and VR Concept software packages, based on which recommendations are given for the use of the three most rational surface texturing methods in different cases.
